Welcome to CampusGreen! Please read these terms carefully before using our platform.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using CampusGreen, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our platform.
2. Eligibility
CampusGreen is exclusively for students, faculty, and staff with a valid .edu email address. By signing up, you confirm that you meet this eligibility requirement.
3. User Responsibilities and Prohibited Items
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for ensuring that your listings comply with our guidelines. Prohibited items include, but are not limited to:
- Illegal substances, drugs, and drug paraphernalia
- Weapons, firearms, ammunition, and explosives
- Counterfeit or stolen goods
- Prescription medications
- Alcohol and tobacco products (including vaping products)
- Items that infringe on intellectual property rights
- Recalled items or items prohibited by law
- Financial instruments, cryptocurrency, gift cards or prepaid cards
- Personal identification documents
- Any item that promotes hatred, violence, or discrimination
Violation of these policies may result in immediate removal of listings and potential account termination.
4. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to engage in any activity that is harmful, fraudulent, or violates the rights of others. This includes harassment, spamming, and posting inappropriate content.
5. Transactions
CampusGreen is not responsible for the outcome of transactions between users. We recommend meeting in public, well-lit areas on campus and inspecting items before completing any exchange.
6. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms or engage in any activity that harms the CampusGreen community.
7. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, CAMPUSGREEN AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUE, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM: (A) YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE CAMPUSGREEN; (B) ANY UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR USE OF OUR SERVERS OR ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION; (C) ANY CONDUCT OR CONTENT OF ANY THIRD PARTY ON CAMPUSGREEN, INCLUDING ANY DEFAMATORY, OFFENSIVE, OR ILLEGAL CONDUCT; OR (D) ANY CONTENT OBTAINED FROM CAMPUSGREEN. IN NO EVENT SHALL CAMPUSGREEN'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID TO CAMPUSGREEN IN THE PAST SIX MONTHS, OR IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID CAMPUSGREEN, ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).
8. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of CampusGreen after changes are made constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
9. Privacy and Data Protection
Our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms, describes how we collect, use, and share your personal information. By using CampusGreen, you agree to the collection and processing of your data as described in our Privacy Policy, in compliance with New York State laws including the SHIELD Act (Stop Hacks and Improve Electronic Data Security Act). We implement reasonable safeguards to protect your personal information and will notify you of any data breaches as required by law.
10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of CampusGreen shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of these courts. You waive any objection to venue in these courts.
11. Intellectual Property Rights
The CampusGreen platform, including all content, features, and functionality, is owned by CampusGreen and is protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, republish, download, store, or transmit any materials from our platform without our prior written consent, except for your personal, non-commercial use.
12. User Content and License
By posting content on CampusGreen (including listings, photos, descriptions, and messages), you grant CampusGreen a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, translate, and distribute your content in any existing or future media. You represent and warrant that you own or control all rights to the content you post and that such content does not violate these Terms or any applicable law.
13. Account Deletion and Data Retention
You may delete your account at any time through the account settings page. Upon account deletion, your personal information will be removed or anonymized, and your active listings will be removed from the platform. In accordance with New York State law, we may retain certain information for legal, security, anti-fraud, or record-keeping purposes. Some information may remain in our backups or archives for a limited period. For more details about data retention, please see our Privacy Policy.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CampusGreen and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any claims, disputes, demands, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of CampusGreen, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third party's rights.
15. Non-Commercial Project
CampusGreen is a non-commercial student project created to benefit the campus community. It is not affiliated with any commercial entity or educational institution. While we strive to provide a reliable and helpful service, please understand that this platform is maintained by a student with limited resources.
